TROIS C-L Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois invites for the presentation of the work-in-progress of Artur Bieńkowski’s choreographic project entitled ZUGWANG. As the artist notes, ZUGWANG is an experiment that investigates new types of relations between an abstract form and movement – where the movement is in itself the main need and the final goal.
The ZUGWANG is an experiment that investigates new types of relations between an abstract form and movement – where the movement is in itself the main need and the final goal. The performers, by developing their own space scores create independent worlds. By doing so, they bring to life an environment-in-motion composed of micro-choreographies. At the same time, the performers pay a lot of attention to what is happening between them in the process – the world they manage to create, the already existing world, and the world that has already vanished but still determines certain choices. The materialised idea and its resonance in the audience create a choreography of the viewer’s attention, without forcing any meanings or references. It is a self-sufficient being. The creative process leaves a trace in the form of the blurred boundary between thinking, action, creation and form. By neutralising the separateness of the body, action, thought and creation, the choreographer follows the morphing matter and its influence on the viewer’s perception, aiming, at the same time, at liberating choreography from the obligation to present and represent anything particular.
